A/Behind the Scenes: Raoum AlSuhaibani

FR: Who is Raoum?

RS: A content creator, healthy plant based recipe developer, and a yoga teacher. I try to lead a conscious aligned life while being kind to others and to myself.

FR: What made you want to start your vegan journey?

RS: When I graduated from college, I had some free time and I started to think about how consuming dairy and eggs doesn’t make much sense (I was a vegetarian at the time) and II started to do my own research looking into both sides. After a lot of research and many books, I was convinced that going vegan is the way to go and I gave it a try and now it’s been more than 5 years and it’s the best decision I’ve made.

FR: How has your brand evolved throughout the years?

RS: I think it expanded to cover more than just food over the years and started to shed light on other areas of life such as sustainability. Then I started an online store to help make sustainable living more accessible in the region and more aesthetically pleasing. Eco friendly products don’t have to be ugly.

FR: What are your top 3 things to do in Saudi?

RS:

  1. Camping in the desert.
  2. Going to local concerts “jalsat” but it’s been a while obviously.
  3. Enjoying a good cup of coffee with a book in one of my favorite cafes. Saudis take coffee very seriously, which is something I appreciate.

FR: How has your relationship with food affected your skin health?

RS: I get asked a lot about my tanning routine and there is none honestly. It’s just genetic and lots of beta carotene from plants. It’s been scientifically proven that eating more plants give your skin a glow and a tan like effect.

FR: In your opinion, what do you think is the biggest misconception about being a vegan?

RS: We don’t just eat salads and yes we do get enough protein.
